Cards and ownership
The collectible layer - rarities, supply, multipliers, and why ownership matters.
Heroes exist as collectible cards that you can own, trade, and upgrade. Owning a Hero card gives you the ability to use that Hero in Core Competition and other modes that require card ownership.
Cards are NFTs on the Base blockchain, which means you truly own them. You can hold them, sell them, or trade them as you see fit.
Card Rarities
Every Hero card has a rarity that affects both its point multiplier and its scarcity. Higher rarity cards give you a scoring advantage in competitions.
Common (1x) - Green border. Standard scoring with no multiplier. The most abundant cards.
Rare (1.5x) - Blue border. 50% scoring bonus. Less common, with more limited supply.
Epic (2x) - Pink border. Double scoring. Scarce cards that are harder to pull from packs.
Legendary (2.5x) - Holographic. 2.5x scoring multiplier. Very rare cards with significant competitive and collectible value.
A Legendary card of a moderately active Hero can outscore a Common card of even the most viral personality thanks to the multiplier. Rarity isn't just about collectibility, it's a core part of your competitive strategy.
Star Ratings
Every Hero is assigned a Star rating from 1 to 8 stars, prominently displayed on the left side of their card. Star ratings reflect recent performance and help you identify which Heroes are currently hot.
Star Rating Tiers
8 Stars - Top 7% of Heroes. Elite performers.
7 Stars - 7% to 18%. Very strong performers.
6 Stars - 18% to 32%. Above average.
5 Stars - 32% to 50%. Solid mid-tier.
4 Stars - 50% to 68%. Below average.
3 Stars - 68% to 82%. Lower tier.
2 Stars - 82% to 93%. Weak performers.
1 Star - 93% to 100%. Bottom tier.
Star ratings are based on a rolling 7-day average of Hero performance and update weekly (Thursday after Core Competition tournaments end). All game modes use the same Star ratings, so they stay consistent across the platform.
Where You'll See Star Ratings
Star ratings appear:
On Hero cards in your inventory
In the marketplace
In Core Competition lineup builders
In Arena and King of the Hill
On the Leaderboard page
Star Caps in Competition
Different leagues and game modes have Star caps that limit the total Stars you can field in a lineup. This keeps competition balanced and prevents stacking all 8-star Heroes.
For example, lower leagues might have a 19-star cap across your entire deck, while higher leagues might allow 27+ stars. This forces strategic decisions about which Heroes to include.
Star ratings are also used in Arena and King of the Hill, where you must build lineups within the specified limit.
League Rarity Caps
Different leagues have restrictions on which rarities you can use in your deck. This keeps competition balanced and prevents lower leagues from being dominated by players with all Legendary cards.
As you progress through leagues, rarity caps increase, allowing you to field stronger lineups. Specific league restrictions are covered in the Core Competition section.
Supply and Scarcity
Each Hero card has a limited supply determined by its rarity. Once a certain number of cards are minted for a Hero, no more are created.
This creates natural scarcity. Popular Heroes with strong social performance and higher rarities tend to have elevated floor prices because demand exceeds supply.
Supply is permanent. Cards don't disappear unless they're burned (during the leveling process), which actually reduces supply further and can increase the value of remaining cards.
Special Edition Frames
Some Hero cards feature special edition frames with unique visual designs. These are cosmetic variations that don't affect gameplay or scoring.
Special edition frames are released periodically and add variety to your collection without changing how the Hero performs in competition.
Ownership Benefits
Owning a Hero card gives you:
Entry to Core Competition - You need to own the Hero cards in your lineup to compete in weekly tournaments.
Scoring multipliers - Higher rarity cards significantly boost your competitive edge.
Marketplace trading rights - You can sell your cards for ETH whenever you want.
Leveling opportunities - Own multiple copies of the same Hero to level them up through burning.
Portfolio building - Build a collection of high-performing Heroes to compete across multiple lineups and strategies.
You don't need to own Hero cards to play every mode. Arena gives you random Heroes to compete with, and Prediction Markets don't require card ownership at all. But owning cards unlocks Core Competition, the main competitive mode with the largest prize pools.
